Dr. Courtney Gowin, founder of the NEST, has a deep reverence for birth and pregnancy. She has made it her sole mission in life to foster a community where healing and restoration happens for generations to come. Dr. Gowin’s focus is chiropractic care during the perinatal period. However, over the past five years she’s witnessed how birth outcomes can be positively impacted through community-based approach of wellness care within her office at the NEST.
Collaborating with her peers, she has had the honor to sit on both university and hospital boards that have studied the effect of maternal health on fetal outcomes. Dr. Gowin appears on major media and news outlets along with stages around the world educating doctors and the general public on the importance of holistic, community-based care during pregnancy. She has also written one of the largest natural birth and pregnancy books, The Barefoot Mama.
Education is one of Dr. Gowin’s greatest passions. She worked as a professor for three years at Parker University while she was starting one of her businesses. Being able to shape the generation of doctors coming into the world is very important to her calling. She is also a business consultant and mentor for women in business who are wanting to maintain balance while growing a business and a family.
Holistic healing migrates into every business run by Dr. Gowin. When she is not in the office, she is usually in Mexico running her wellness retreat business in Tulum. Bringing people together and curating beautiful events and spaces is one of her greatest passions.
Dr. Gowin’s greatest work are her three young daughters, Amelia, Capri, and Luna all born naturally at home. Motherhood transcends into everything she does, and it is this congruency that holds space for the amount of passion and dedication needed to transform a generation.
